Jennifer Goes to Korea 2- 제니퍼 한국가다 2

Hi, all!

I hope you have been waited for the story on "What I did in Korea" for the second time~! :)
My laziness (게으름) combined with lack of time created "No-posting-at-all" for two weeks. Ha ha ha.... :(                             


  Two weeks ago, I visited Kintex where many international/national conferences and exibitions are held. On the day when I visited (방문했다), "CAYAF (Contemporary Art & Young Artists Festival) 2012" with a theme, "Different Shapes and Colors- Looking through Today" (형형색색- 오늘을 읽다). Since it was a weekday, not many people were at the exibition hall.  In the middle of the hall, Artist Tae-Jin Sung held a workshop, "Differences between Korean and International Pop-Arts." It was very interesting (흥미로워요)~!



After the artist Sung's workshop, I walked around the hall filled with creativity (창의성) and ingenuity (독창성)~! Artwork on the left is made of wood (나무) painted with different colors. It represents "Personal Life" (사생활) - we need to understand (이해하다) and accept (받아들이다) that people are all different. 

 

 

 

It is insufficient (불충분하다) to define people (사람들) with their societal status and to acknowledge (인식하다) them as elements (구성원들) in a group pursuing the same goal (목적). This artwork seems that real people are standing on the street. Who would think of this idea?













 I don't remember what the artist wants to tell us about, but I liked this artwork. Robot (로봇) seems to be in a dry (삭막한) & cold (차가운) city (도시) where machines (기계들) are, but it seems to be hatched in the forest where full of living beings are. It seems to me that the robots are us living city life where we do same things over and over every day, but we were born in the nature (자연) and longing for going back.

Even if we are still robots out of cacoon (번데기), but then we can fly~! Maybe we hope to fly. :)

 Ooh I love hyperrealism (극사실주의) artwork. Some do not like it, but I like it because I feel like I am in the space (공간) where the artist was. When you read a novel with full of realistic descriptions, you feel that you are there. For me, hyperrealism gives me that illusion (착각).

You must be surprised with what material the artist used for this masterpiece. The artist drew mountains (산) with a pen on lottery tickets (복권)!  I don't know whether the artist bought them, collected them from his friends (친구들), or picked up from trash cans (쓰레기통) next to stores selling lottery tickets, but it was amazing (경이롭다).

The artist redefined "desire" as pure energy connects with something new, so "desire" connects to creativity (창조), productivity (생산), and dynamism (역동주의).

 The black waves are made of us. We are all competing against (경쟁하다) each other and tried to be better than others. But when you think you are on the top (정상), you try not to fall (떨어지다). If you fall down, you start over (시작하다) with a new group of people from the bottom. I don't know who the artist is, he depicted life so well in this.

 This artwork was exibited in the section, "Mixed Blood Myths (혼혈신화)."
Many artists in this section voiced that "Difference" could not be accepted in the collective society (집단주의 사회) in the past, and he treated accepting differences could only be happned in myths (신화).  But now, the artists want people to accept differences.
